Why Bright Starts Children’s Nursery

We are a private Day Nursery based in Dunfermline. At Bright Starts we aim to provide the highest standard of care from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

To us, providing a safe, secure and positive environment to nurture and educate each child as an individual is of upmost importance.

In Bright Starts we provide a home from home environment that is stimulating, educational and friendly. Our highly qualified staff ensures that each child is encouraged to meet their full potential using the pre-birth to three Curriculum for Excellence, HGIOELC and National Care Standards.

Here at Bright Starts every day is a learning through play day!

Playroom Facilities

Our beautifully furnished playrooms reflect the perfect learning environment that will enable your child to learn and develop through child-led play. Your child will be encouraged to be independent and provided with the freedom to choose from a wide range of resources and activities.

Our areas within the playrooms focus on developing the curriculum, and providing the experiences and outcomes to promote learning. We ensure that your child has the opportunity to develop literacy and numeracy skills as well as promoting their health and wellbeing.

Using a wide range of open ended resources covering all areas of your child’s learning, they will be challenged and stimulated gaining new experiences and skills.

Your child will be encouraged to form positive relationships with their peers which plays a vital role in their social and emotional development, and promotes your child’s sense of their own identity.

Your child will be encouraged to develop and learn at their own pace, and staff will take into account your child’s interests and learning style through regular consultation with your child.

What The Parents Say

Our Playrooms

Our playrooms are organised into 4 main rooms, taking into account the age and stage of the children. This includes our 6 weeks to 15/18 months room, our 15/18 months to 2 1/2 years room, our 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 and our 3 1/2 to 5 years room. This allows us to meet the individual needs of your child and maintain the adult to child ratio set by the Care Standards. All age groups have an appointed Senior Practitioner, a team of practitioners and support practitioners. Your child will have their own key worker allocated who will oversee their care and development.

Your Children

We endeavour to ensure that your child is at the forefront of everything that we do! We aim to provide your child with a varied range of experiences to build on their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Your child will have the opportunity to express their views and opinions and be involved in making decisions about their learning. An appointed key worker will work closely with your child as well as with you the parent to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved, and their learning and progress is tracked on our online Learning Journals, giving you the freedom to keep up to date with this on a regular basis.

We take the safety of the children in our care very seriously, starting with our secure door entry system that we have at both of our designated entrances.

Ensuring that your child is happy and secure at nursery is paramount. To help us achieve this we provide the right level of transition between home and nursery, from room to room and from nursery to school. We strive to meet your child’s individual needs in a positive and nurturing manner, respecting their wants and desires. Staff are enthusiastic and motivated and provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere for your child to flourish in.

Taking into account Local and National guidelines, staff focus on the individual education needs of your child, developing and building on the skills to prepare them for the next chapter of their learning journey. All learning is child-led which allows your child to learn and develop at a pace that takes into account their personal interests and experiences. Staff ensures that learning is stimulating and fun, encouraging your child to engage fully
