What The Parents Say
Bright Starts cared for both of our children from when they were 9 months of age until the Friday before they started primary one and the standard of that care was always first rate. The children were always happy to be dropped off, and always came home with happy and amusing stories. The proximity of the nursery to the University of Stirling campus allows for a lot of (weather permitting!) outdoor time, and the children have the opportunity to go for walks, feed the ducks, and learn to stay away from the swans Inside, the nursery is bright and clean, and the recent introduction of smart boards into the toddler and pre-school rooms has been a welcome addition. My son in particular enjoys playing music from the smart board and teaching songs to the other children.
Parent 1
Here are some points that busy parents like us will appreciate – the provision of healthy meals and snacks for the children. Whilst the staff never really got my son to eat soup, he did get over his aversion to tomatoes with their kind perseverance! The fact that the nursery is open pretty much all year round except for a few days over the Christmas and New Year break is a fabulous service. As a staff member at the University, I received a discounted rate for both of my children, and the nursery even offers discounted places during the summer holidays so that you can have an extra day when you need it.
Parent 2
Children’s’ activities and progress is recorded on tablets within each room, with accompanying photographs. Parents then receive an email asking them to log into their account and see what learning milestones their child has achieved. I travel for work from time to time, and it’s been great to be able to get an email, log in to the website, and see what my child has been working on – especially with photos. I think this is an excellent service.
Parent 3
The manager and staff at the nursery are always friendly and approachable. They are happy to talk to you about what your child has been up to that day and (more importantly) will tell you if their behaviour has been less than stellar(!). A recent and valuable introduction to the parental feedback process is an online component.

Our Playrooms
Our playrooms are organised into 4 main rooms, considering the age and stage of the children. This includes our 0-1-year room, our 1-2 years room our 2-3 years room and our 3-5 years room. This allows us to meet the individual needs of your child and maintain the adult to child ratio set by the National Care Standards. Your child will have their own key worker allocated who will oversee their care and development.

Your Children
We endeavour to ensure that your child is at the centre of everything that we do! We aim to provide your child with a varied range of experiences to build on their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. Your child will have the opportunity to express their views and opinions and be leaders of their own learning. An appointed key worker will work closely with your child as well as with you the parent/carer to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved, and their learning and progress is tracked on our online Learning Journals, giving you the freedom to keep up to date with this on a regular basis.
Safety
We take the safety of the children in our care very seriously, starting with our secure door entry system that we have at our main entrance. When collecting your child, access is gained by buzzing your required room. We also use a secure password system with each child when you require family or friends to pick them up.
Happiness
Ensuring that your child is happy and secure at nursery is paramount to us here at Bright Starts. To help us achieve this we provide the right level of transition between home and nursery, from room to room and from nursery to school. We strive to meet your child’s individual needs in a positive and nurturing manner, respecting their needs and desires. Staff are enthusiastic and motivated and provide a happy and relaxed atmosphere for your child to flourish in.
Education
Taking into account Local and National guidelines, staff focus on the individual education needs of your child, developing and building on the skills to prepare them for the next chapter of their learning journey. All learning and play is child-led which allows your child to learn and develop at a pace that is unique their personal interests and experiences. Staff ensures that learning and play is stimulating, fun and encourages your child to engage fully within the Nursery.
